Description

Thank you for your Support. Both nights are SOLD OUT.

West Point’s Heritage Night is an annual event with dinner, a glass of wine and an interesting presentation about the Inn’s colorful history told before a group of 55 guests.

ABOUT THIS YEAR’S EVENT

Just over a century ago, a San Francisco man, spent a frigid April night drifting in lifeboat 13, a lucky survivor of the R.M.S. Titanic. Upon his return to San Francisco, Dr. Washington Dodge would tell his story to a fascinated standing-room-only crowd. Later, he would seek solitude on Mt. Tamalpais and build a cabin at the West Point Inn. That was in 1918.

On May 18 and 19, 2018, the West Point Inn will celebrate the centennial of Dr. Dodge’s “Honeymoon Cabin” at its annual Heritage Night event. Hike to the Inn, enjoy a glass of wine and a Titanic-themed dinner. Then enjoy a presentation about Dr. Dodge’s Titanic adventure.

ken-marschall+portrait

Our special guest will be internationally renowned Titanic Historian Ken Marschall, a man fascinated by the Titanic his whole life. He’s been down on the crumbling wreck, helped James Cameron rebuild the ship for the famed movie and known Titanic survivors, including one who shared lifeboat 13 with Dr. Dodge. Her name was Ruth Becker Blanchard. Ken will tell us about their friendship and how they rediscovered her personal experiences aboard the great liner.

The program is the same both nights. Reservations are required. Edwardian dress is optional.

A special thanks to Merri Martori for her generous grant that covers Ken Marschall’s honoraria, given in memory of the firemen of the R.M.S. Titanic.
